The sporty, exciting new Swift Sport is the highlight of the Suzuki lineup at the 21st Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) event in Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran - Central Jakarta. The Swift Sport offers higher levels of running, turning, and stopping performance than the standard Swift on which it’s based; it’s the performance flagship of the Swift series. It went into production in Japan in 2005 and in Hungary in 2006. The experience it gives during sporty driving and everyday motoring has earned it devoted fans in around 40 countries and territories around the world. The new Swift Sport has the same DNA as its predecessor but reflects the concept of developing a refined sport compact from the new Swift, which Suzuki launched in 2010. Befitting its status as the new performance flagship of the Swift series, it reflects the pursuit of even better handling, driving performance, and environmental compatibility and an uncompromising focus on quality. It offers an incomparably rewarding experience of Suzuki’s sporty DNA. Design: aggressive and dignified • An aggressive and dignified look • Aero parts combining functionality with style • A sporty and refined interior environment Exterior [An aggressive and dignified design] The new Swift Sport’s exterior design reflects an evolution toward an aggressive and dignified look. A ground-hugging form gives a sense of stability and tension. A big front grille evokes high performance and is flanked by big, distinctive finned foglamp bezels for a more aggressive, dignified character. Aero parts that are exclusive to the new Swift Sport control airflow, suppress lift, and help to give the car a low visual centre of gravity. Newly developed high-intensity discharge headlamps with a metallic-grey coating and newly developed rear combination lamps with a cylindrical design heighten the dynamism expressed by the exterior design. Interior: sporty and refined Sporty, exclusive design features in the new Swift Sport’s cabin heighten driving pleasure, and a high-quality interior look and feel generates pleasure of ownership. A five-dial meter cluster combines easy legibility with an uncluttered look. Soft leather on the steering wheel allows a natural-feeling grip for easy operation and a sense of refinement. And the front seats not only offer greater support but also have exclusive fabrics and stitching that heighten excitement about the driving experience. Dimensions: compact for nimbleness　 The new Swift Sport’s strong presence belies compact dimensions that make it excitingly nimble. Wide treads and a short wheelbase (key characteristics of the Swift series) combine with chassis systems that include an exclusively designed rear suspension to realize brisk handling and outstanding high-speed stability. The new Swift Sport has an overall length of 3,890mm, an overall width of 1,695mm, an overall height of 1,510mm, and a wheelbase of 2,430mm. Handling: exclusively tuned chassis for the Swift Sport Since the new Swift Sport is the performance flagship of the Swift series, Suzuki pursued higher levels of chassis performance, thereby achieving an exceptional balance of controllability and stability. Greater toe and camber rigidity in the torsion beam, greater lateral rigidity in the torsion-beam bushings, and larger rear wheel bearings pursue stability at the rear at the high speed range. Increased spring constants for the front and rear coil springs and added rebound springs in the front struts significantly contribute to stability by realizing greater roll stiffness. An added steering-gearbox member, an added suspension-frame member, and larger front wheel bearings boost yaw response, and the handling has evolved from that of the previous Swift Sport. Transmission: designed for sporty, fuel-efficient driving The new Swift Sport’s six-speed manual transmission was developed specially to take full advantage of the M16A engine’s performance. The use of six gears allows sporty driving together with fuel economy. A triple-cone synchronizer for the first and second gears permits lower shift effort. And a larger counterweight at the transmission end of the shift lever yields a sporty shift action that feels lighter and more positive. Engine: 100kW (136PS) of power The new Swift Sport’s M16A engine has a variable intake system, optimization of the intake VVT, and increased valve lift, maximum output is up from 100kW (136PS) and maximum torque is 160N•m. As a result, the driver enjoys great-feeling performance across the rev range. The engine’s high output is combined with great fuel economy. Plus, a revised muffler structure yields a sportier exhaust note. CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with shift paddles The new Swift Sport is equipped with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with a low- and high-range auxiliary gearbox that gives a wider range of gear ratios, so it promotes both acceleration and fuel economy. The shift paddles allow the driver to change gears without letting go of the steering wheel. Thanks to shift paddles, the driver enjoys sporty-feeling acceleration. Wheels and tyres: exclusive 16-inch designs Exclusive 16-inch aluminium-alloy wheels are standard on the new Swift Sport. They have a sharp, exquisite design. The tyres (195/50R16) were also developed specially for the new Swift Sport. They promote controllability and stability. Safety: newly evolved protection • Comprehensive range of safety equipment • Six airbags as standard equipment • ESP® (Electronic Stability Program) as standard equipment The new Swift Sport represents an evolution in terms of safety. Comprehensive safety technologies mean it offers the same control and peace of mind as the new Swift, which earned a five-star rating in the European New Car Assessment Programme. For passive safety, the body is based on Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology, which ensures that it efficiently absorbs and disperses impact forces. Extensive use of high-tensile steel and the benefits of computerized structural analysis keep the body light while promoting safety. There are six airbags (including curtain airbags), and the pillars incorporate shock-absorbing materials that soften any contact with occupants’ heads. Suzuki took a multifaceted approach to achieving higher levels of active safety. As a result, an ESP® and an antilock braking system with electronic braking-force distribution are standard equipment.
